We barely set a foot outside and immediately got invited into an art happening.
First, herded onto an unsteady pier, we were abandoned to roast in 31 degrees Celsius,
waiting for the act. (My knees were shaking, as unsteady piers are not my specialty, but what wouldn't one do for art.)
Then suddenly, from behind the boat, a (real!) mermaid emerged, and five seconds
later got pulled onto the pier by two people from the crew.
For a small fee, one could take a picture with this extraordinary being.
End of the performance.
Everything that happened afterwards, was somehow a smooth continuation of this first event. It was likehandfuls of colorful confetti thrown at our sweaty, sticky faces — weird but also funny.
A traditional Greek day with loud live music.
A group of Romanian men drinking canned beer and playing dominoes at the hotel’s back entrance — always there, always smiling.
A midnight intermezzo caused by water flooding from our bathroom ceiling.
A breakfast buffet, where a child sneezed into the cheese plate.
An eveningwhen we were mistaken for a lesbian couple (because we drank prosecco, I mean, really???).
Playing a main role in this crazy movie called life, is one of my favorites.
It’s often up to us how we experience and remember things.
And as M.said: “ it’s all about the company” – so: cast your movie’s crew very carefully.
